The beginnings of establishing an Anglican Parish in Lyttelton originated in England with the forming of the Canterbury Association and the proposal that the area should become an Anglican settlement. The Parish dates from the arrival of the Canterbury Pilgrims in 1850.

Many residents have contacted the council of late to find out the status of the Lyttelton Pool for this summer. Some concerned residents offered their help to fix the pool because many people thought the problem was merely the change rooms. Paula Smith our Community Board Chair has responded to email concerns by saying:

Despite all the best laid plans the earthquake effect strikes again, as news is released that the Lyttelton Farmers Market will not be relocating to the Lyttelton Port Company car park in the foreseeable future.

The 104 year old steam tug Lyttelton is just about the only bit of historic Lyttelton intact after the earth quake. But it needs a bit of help to keep going in its second century. The Tug Lyttelton Preservation Society is looking for volunteers to keep the tug steaming.

The Lyttelton Farmers Market is excited to announce that the market will be relocated to the Lyttelton Port Company car park from Saturday 5 November 2011. Established in 2005 by Project Lyttelton, the Lyttelton Farmers Market was developed so that the Lyttelton community would have access to fresh food, enjoy a central meeting place, stimulate local business, promote sustainability and help the local community in general.
