Calls to reject the yet to be released draft Lyttelton Master Plan are totally premature.  What the community was told  during the workshops in July, was based on an initial response to the ideas raised by the community.  Since then the draft plan has been further modified.  It remains a work in progress.

It is a disservice to the people of Lyttelton to suggest that this is a fait accompli.  The plan has not been finalised or made available.  To give it a thumbs down before it has even been seen or considered is a disgraceful example of self-serving political manoeuvring.

For the record, the draft plan will be considered by the Council on Thursday, 27 October at the Beckenham Service Centre.  This will be available online at www.ccc.govt.nz from Friday, 21 October or can be studied at Lyttelton Library and Service Centre next week.

The draft master plan will be made available for community feedback and submissions in November.   A summary will be delivered to all households in Lyttelton and adjacent harbour communities.   This is the time to express your views and opinions on the draft master plan.
