A fact sheet on filling ground cracks in the Port Hills has been prepared in response to requests from residents and community groups for information on repairing cracks on private land.  It provides some information on what residents can do to minimise water getting into ground cracks on their hillside properties.

The process recommended for filling the ground cracks uses a mixture of sandy gravel fill and bentonite powder, a clay that expands when it gets wet to form a seal in  cracks.  The material that we recommend for filling cracks is available from the supply yard of Fulton Hogan, Ensors Road, in bulk and pre packed quantities.
